Very strange car indeed!! silver chassis, black under bonnet area, seats retrimmed fully painted and only 2 miles on the clock. My 74 m has been used and yet the passenger seat that's not been sat in as much is mint so why would a Vinyl seat deteriorate over time in a garage. Why was the chassis painted silver what was the original colour. To many questions here. But it does look like an interesting car shame someone has ruined its originality because that's where the value would have been.

Many years ago I had an early 2500M ,K reg,June 72 I think.
The seats had a cloth centre,so I can understand how that would have deteriorated.
Even in dry storage so many things can deteriorate over 40 years and just because it now has an MOT there could be all sorts of issues with it....and what is the quick repaint covering up?
Personally I think it should have been sent to auction untouched with the dust still on it to probably have got a better price.

I also wondered why they changed things even when it was dry stored...and 2 miles? maybe the cable broke after 2 miles how else did it get to drive to some early points, say from dealer to house etc etc, seems a bit to low for what all happened to the car.

lucky I saw it also earlier the day, it said 2500 on the side.I also wondered why they changed things even when it was dry stored...and 2 miles? maybe the cable broke after 2 miles how else did it get to drive to some early points, say from dealer to house etc etc, seems a bit to low for what all happened to the car.
I think people should remember that being a 72 / 73 car that it is entirely feasible that this car could have been supplied as a kit! If this is the case then it could be quite likely that some personal touches were incorporated into the car. I actually like it and think that it could actually be quite an honest car. as ever people can speculate as much as they like. The only way to be sure is to go and look. A restored car with a new speedo will be very quickly apparent!!

ok ok, I will upload some
in the ad it said Vixen 2500 but looks a bit more M-series bonnet at the front (look at that extra 'mouth'under front) and the rear,
believe they also called it a TVR 2500 which later named M-series? or its a late Vixen 2500 M hybrid sort >

as far as i know, this car seems to be an early 2500M cause it looks like mine.
the bonnet is the same, and i'm not sure, but the rear lights seems to be the cortina ones. As mine.
and the "air boxes/entrances" on the sides (sorry for my english) are exactly the same than my car.
Mine is a really early one as the number is 2244TM (i think the M serie began at 2240TM) but i'm not so sure for this information. My car was registered on the 1st of May 1972
When i bought my cerbera to Fernhurst, Simon was reaaly impressed by the pictures i've shown him ; he told me that this car was quite rare and exclusive.
but i let the specialists of this forum make that clear and clean !
regards

does your car also have that small letterbox opening in the middle/under?
so they are pretty 'rare' as well nice.
ah, see I thought I've read somewere in one of the plenty TVR books, a pre M car just named 2500

There was also a “pre-M” 1971 model simply called 2500. Devised especially for the U.S., it was basically the old V-6 Tuscan fitted with the American-spec TR6 engine. Exactly 289 were built in less than a year, along with 96 examples of another “cocktail” model, this one with the old-style bodywork atop the M-Series chassis.
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/tvr-sports-cars3.htmIn 1976 I purchased a kit built 1972 2500m from the first owner.
Structurally identical to the car advertised with a black chassis, high backed seats were fitted and a radio located on the dashboard beneath the switches. The rusted chromed bumpers were painted black.
Unfortunately I appear not to have a record of the chassis number, although I recall seeing the car for sale by DG a few years back so it might be possible to identify it.
